What is a Navien combi-boiler?
A Navien combi-boiler is a compact, gas-fired condensing appliance that provides hydronic space heating and on-demand domestic hot water. The heating system water circulates through radiant floors, radiators, baseboard or other hydronic emitters. Domestic water flows through a separate heat exchanger and remains isolated from the heating-system water.
When a faucet or shower creates a domestic hot-water demand, the combi-boiler gives that demand priority. The unit temporarily directs its output toward domestic hot water. When the hot-water demand ends, it returns to space-heating operation.
This arrangement can replace a separate boiler and water heater in qualifying homes. It saves mechanical-room space and can reduce the number of appliances, but it also means one appliance is responsible for both heat and hot water. Correct sizing and professional installation are essential.

What “endless hot water” means with a combi-boiler
A Navien combi-boiler can produce domestic hot water continuously without waiting for a storage tank to recover. It does not provide unlimited flow.
Hot-water output depends on the unit's domestic input, incoming cold-water temperature and desired outlet temperature. Minnesota groundwater is colder during the heating season, which increases the required temperature rise and reduces the available gallons per minute.
